BLUE
50th Anniversary Edition
This conceptual box set serves as a 50th Anniversary re-pressing of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Blue’ album. I read a multitude of articles, explored every lyric, spent hours gathering photos, and even took the time to analyze and mimic Mitchell’s handwriting. I designed labels for two LPs, a poster, an inner box label, the album cover art, and a 14-page lyric booklet. The color palette is limited to various shades of aged, subdued blues to suit the music’s generally melancholic and introspective themes. With hopes of evoking nostalgia for fans of the past, and to curate a tangible world for fans in the present, I physically collaged hundreds of photos, stickers, handwritten elements, and a recurring tape motif to present the overall box set as a large scrapbook that Mitchell might have made herself.
Includes remastered versions of your favorite songs, never-before heard demos, and two bonus unreleased tracks.
